Both of this year's Carols by Candlelight concerts were highly successful events. Ticket sales on both evenings exceeded expectations and so this two evening format is here to stay. The Cathedral Choir performed a stunning programme of carols, complemented by the Cathedral organists. At the second evening the Friends presented a cheque to the interim Dean for £170,000, which is the largest grant ever made from our Association. This was towards the installation of a new heating system for St Hugh's Choir, the benefits of which are already being appreciated. The pre-event meal in the Cathedral Café was also well supported and will be repeated next year.
